A Huge Thank You to Sibaya Trust!

The Open Door Crisis Care Centre is truly indebted to SIBAYA TRUST for their generous sponsorship of a vehicle to ensure that our vision in reaching thousands of men, women, and children every year becomes a reality. The Open Door was established in 1997 by Thora Mansfield, at the request of the South African Police Services to address the high incidence of crimes against women and children.

From small beginnings, The Open Door is today recognized as a lead organization not only nationally but also internationally addressing serious social issues through counselling, psychosocial services, and support groups.  Our work has impacted the lives of in excess of over 400 000 men, women, and children for rape, domestic violence, child abuse, crimes of violence and trafficking in persons.

The Open Door has won 22 awards for their work in changing the lives of those that are hurting and suffering as a result of crimes of violence both mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally.  The Open Door has an accredited shelter for abused women and their children and has recently been accredited to open one of the first men’s shelters in the country.

Our success, however, is not in the statistics but in lives that have been healed and restored. This has not been without challenges – the most serious challenge being a lack of suitable transport. Our current vehicles are 10 to 14 years old, one with a mileage of over 200 000 which is about to be taken off the road.   Without reliable transport, we are not able to continue to support the most vulnerable of our people.

Thank you again that through the generosity of Sibaya we can follow our vision and passion – Sibaya has made this possible – thank you again.
